Introduction to Buddhism Morning Saturday

Saturday 17 October 10:30am – 1:30pm

Come along and learn about Buddhist Meditation. We are a group that meets most Tuesday evenings and we wanted to put on an event focused on Newcomers. You may be unfamiliar with meditation or perhaps you meditate on your own/practice with a different Buddhist group (We are part of the Triratna Buddhist Community).  Either way you are welcome to join us for the morning to introduce you to two of our main meditations; Mindfulness of Breathing and the Metta Bhavana (loving kindness). We'll end the morning with a shared lunch with the regular attenders to the group.

Chairs will be available on the day to meditate. There will be a small number of meditation cushions to try out. If you are a regular meditator then you are welcome to bring along whatever you use. 

There is no charge for this event. We ask for a donation if people are able in order to cover the cost of the room hire but we don't want the cost to stop people accessing the Dharma (Buddhist teachings). 

The morning will be led by Anantamati (female order member) and the team:

10.30am - 12.30pm Introduction to our community, some brief guidance on meditation posture, and experiencing led meditations of the Mindfulness of Breathing and Metta Bhavana

12.30pm - 1.30pm a chance to stay for a shared lunch (please bring some vegan/vegetarian food to share) and meet some of our regular attendees to the group.
